Vacation....a word that I hadn't heard in a long time! This vacation was even more special because we had a fantastic little boy with us. Our vacation spot of choice was Isle Of Palms, SC, and let me just say that it was absolutely beautiful! Before we made it to Isle of Palms we first made a stop to Columbia, SC so Matt could take a class. Kellen and I hung out at the hotel while Matt learned more fun stuff about "eyes", you'd think that 4 years of Optometry school one would know it all right? Well, the learning never stops, but I will just say that it was well worth hanging out in a hotel for a day and a half, we were able to get away as a family and enjoy our time together. While Matt was in class Kellen and I even ventured out and explored! I am happy to say that I made it back to the hotel with no problems and didn't even need to stop to ask for directions once! Fun times!!!
Kellen was a great little traveler! I think that we were some what nervous about this considering it was a 6-7 hour trip. Kellen sure did prove that he can keep up with the big boys! Kellen slept most of the trip but was also able to play and stay occupied while he was awake!
Once we arrived at the house we rented we unloaded the vehicle and tried to settle in. After we put things away and made a soft play area for Kellen we decided we would walk to the beach and see how little buddy liked the sand and water! It was so precious watching Kellen as his little toes dug into the sand. He moved his feet through it and would smile ever so sweet! While playing in the sand Kellen constantly watched the ocean. The water was so captivating! We knew that he wouldn't have a problem at all with water.
Throughout our trip we of course had some great food! I would have to say that Matt and I had two favorites, Coast and Sullivan's. Both restaurants had amazing seafood and let me just tell you we devoured every bit of it!
To close our trip we visited The Biltmore Inn. What a beautiful location! The scenery was gorgeous even if it was raining. We would have toured the grounds had we not arrived late afternoon. Maybe next time! Of course Kellen was a hit with those around. Dinner was fun! He was our little talker throughout dinner and let me just say he had quiet the voice! The couple behind us were sweet with him, they waved and talked to him just like they knew him! It probably helped that they had 15grandchildren of their own so he was treated like one of them. We had a great time!
I hope and pray that all our family vacations are fun and relaxing as this first family adventure was! I look forward to watching Kellen grow and see the many things that we introduce to him! Isle of Palms, SC was one of our firsts but it will not be our last! Oh and I do plan to go back! I loved that seafood way too much to not go back! Here's to family vacations and the fun times that they bring!
