When Matt first talked to me about taking a trip to Atlanta with a newborn I was a little nervous. I knew that Kellen would do well once we were there, but I didn't know how well he would do with the ride there, but much to my surprise Kellen did AWESOME!!!!
Our plan was to leave Richmond at 6:30 AM so that Matt could make a 1:00 PM meeting, needless to say that meant I was up at 4:30 AM. Oh, I also need to mention that we didn't get into bed until 1:30 AM. That's what you get for waiting until the last minute to pack, however, we had a very good reason! We were celebrating Matt's 35th Birthday! I woke Kellen up a little after 6:00 to feed him so that he wouldn't be hungry for the trip. He ate and much to our surprise right as we were about to walk out the door Kellen had a blow out! We had to change all of his clothes. Which made our departure closer to 7:00 AM. We finally started out after cleaning up Kellen, driving back across town to the house to pick up Matt's registration forms and stopping at the Eye Care Center for Matt's partner's wife. Off we go!
As we drove on Kellen fell asleep! He slept until we stopped for breakfast and once we stopped I had to wake him to feed him. We ate and on the road once again. It didn't take long once we started driving for Kellen to fall asleep again. Our trip seemed long, Kellen slept the whole way until we were about 10 minutes away from our destination!
We had a great time while we were there. Kellen slept while I went shopping, he had good nights and was a hit with all of Matt's optometry friends. While shopping Kellen and I saw Tim Gunn from Bravo's 'Project Runway'; wasn't expecting that at all. I was very proud of my baby boy! He's so amazing.
As we left Atlanta, Kellen once again was wonderful! He did great on the car ride home! I think we have a traveler on our hands. I am grateful for our time away and loved that our little guy did so well.
